1984 Toyota Celica GT (A60)

Released in 1981, the Third generation (A60) Celica is something really a rare thing in the UK - According to ‘How Many Left’, there are currently no other 1984 Celica GT’s on the road here, making this an exceptional find for the Toyota Enthusiast. 1984 was the final year of Rear Wheel Drive in the Celica, before Toyota moved to Front Wheel Drive for the model in ‘85, so the last true ‘drivers’ Celica in that sense. This particular car is a fresh California Import, so has never seen salt and this is reflected in the condition of the bodywork - There is no corrosion whatsoever, that runs and drives well and in complete condition - and is ready for it’s new enthusiast home to be used as is or restored.

Exterior

As described above this is a freshly landed California car, so is void of any corrosion whatsoever and is generally presentable for a 40 year old car. It has been repainted at some stage in it’s life and was not the greatest job with signs of overspray etc. Some badges are missing and paint peeling from trims. There are no dents / scuffs / damage to note.

Interior

While the California climate does have it’s benefits, it can also have a negative impact on things in places and this car has suffered from the usual dash / doorcard cracking and discolouration from the warm / sunny climate. Seats are generally in good condition with the exception of the drivers seat which does have tearing and will require retrimming. All interior trim is present and correct, and window switches / other electrical devices operate as expected.

Mechanical

The 2.4L 22RE engine starts immediately on the button, and runs and drives without any flaws or warning lights. The Automatic gearbox shifts well. Most importantly, the pop-up headlights operate as expected!

History
The car is now freshly MOT'd here in the UK, which now means that all paperwork is present for a UK registration.
For MOT the car has had 4 x New Tyres, brake flexi hoses, wheel bearing and rear fog light fitted (Into the reverse light housing to avoid an ugly bolt on fog light!)
We have also just changed the oil and filter, and the transmission fluid ready for the new owner.
As with most imports, this vehicle is lacking in history - We do have the Californian Certificate of Title, as well as the letter confirming duties have been paid. We are yet to register here in the UK as we would like the new owner to be the first registered owner here.
The purchaser will be the first registered keeper in the UK!
Sold as a rolling restoration opportunity, this really is a rare car looking for an enthusiast home!

Walk around video available. National Delivery can be arranged. Part Exchange Welcome. Viewing strictly by appointment.

Sold as an ongoing project / rolling restoration. While we try and take the time to describe the car as thoroughly as possible, as always with a classic car there are quirks that cannot reasonably uncovered by us here - Although, it’s these quirks that make us fall in love with classic cars! Please do consider this when purchasing a classic vehicle.
